I recently purchased a Rebel SL1/100D, Canon’s only serious competitor to small mirrorless system cameras, as my everyday, cram in any bag, take everywhere camera. All I needed was a well-fitting, protective case that I could slip into a larger bag with other gear. Given my, and I assume most owners’, desire for a compact kit, I was surprised that I couldn’t find a single camera bag available in the U.S. designed specifically for the SL1. After trying out a few bags, I settled on the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 10 as the best option.
With the Canon EF-S 24mm pancake lens mounted there’s plenty of room.
It’s a very cozy fit with the EF-S 18-55mm kit zooms, but all of the various versions will fit.
The pocket on the front is just big enough for a small cleaning kit and a couple extra memory cards.
Canon does actually produce a case (EH25-L) specifically for the SL-1, but doesn’t bother to import it to the United States. I actually bought one of these from Japan off eBay. As you can see in the picture below, it’s a very efficient fit with an 18-55mm kit lens. The lack of an exterior pocket, however, is inconvenient. The real problem for me, though, is that the Canon case doesn’t feel like it offers very much protection. The padding on the Canon case might be a bit thinner than the padding in the Mirrorless Mover, but I think it’s mostly the boxy shape, zippers, flaps, pockets, etc. that give the latter a dose of confidence inspiring rigidity.
I’ll be reselling the EH25-L and sticking with the Think Tank. I own quite a bit of Think Tank gear and have found it all to be reliable and fairly well designed. So far the Mirrorless Mover 10 is living up to those expectations.
